The following Union soldiers were taken prisoner by the Confederates during and
following the Battle of Marianna. Some are also listed among the wounded. These
are identified here with a (w) behind their names. All were members of the Second
Maine Cavalry.
Total:
13 Captured (6 of whom were also
wounded)  Of these, 1 died in
prison, 11 survived their
confinement and the fate of one
remains unknown.
Despite its reputation as the
most deadly of Civil War
prison camps, only one of the
Union soldiers taken
prisoner at Marianna died at
Andersonville (Camp
Sumter). Of the 13 Federals
from Marianna known to have
been imprisoned there,
twelve survived to return
home to their friends and
families.
